In Life Resurrection Center

 
     The youth and adults in our community are of the up most importance; they are our future.  Our program specializes in working with youth and adults who may need a push in the right direction. Our focus is on substance abuse treatment, crime, and gang & violence prevention. We target areas that have high rates of homelessness, hunger, gang activity, prostitution, and drug trafficking. We visit schools throughout the Sacramento area, consulting with principals, counselors, and teachers to identify potential crimes that might be committed by students in a particular area. We personally visit apartment complexes and neighborhoods that have especially high crime rates to deliver fliers to residents who may be interested in joining our program. Our staff is adamant about getting the word out that we are here to help. We are constantly handing out fliers to anyone who may need or know someone who may need assistance.

      The fact is that there are so many young people suffering on the streets for various reasons. Our goal is to pull these unfortunate people off the streets and show them a world beyond violence and substance abuse through encouragement and positive reinforcement.  We want to ensure that every one of our participants has the opportunity to change their life. We feed the minds of our participants with lectures, seminars and forums educating them on life skills, job training, and simply helping them receive an education they might not get otherwise. Not only do we feed their minds, but their bodies as well. We provide classes in nutrition, healthy eating, and leading a drug/alcohol abuse-free life.

The primary purposes of In Life Resurrection Center are:

- To provide free education in health, nutrition, behavior modification, fitness, diet modification, and overall wellness to poor and obese stricken communities in the Sacramento area.

- To provide free access to healthy affordable foods, like fresh fruits and vegetables, through community gardening and access to inner city farmers' markets.

- To provide free workshops on low-budget healthy cooking classes, healthy meal planning, free healthy recipes, nutrition facts, label reading, healthy affordable grocery shopping and healthy home cooking.

- To provide free instruction on a variety of physical activities aimed at preventing obesity such as: yoga, brisk walking, Pilates, dance, jogging, and running.

- To provide free public lectures, seminars, discussion groups, panels, and forums on health problems that can be caused by obesity such as: diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer, and high blood sugar levels. We teach individuals how to manage these health problems and also how to prevent them.
